GTHWL – CH62 + 62.5

62. Final chapter + 62.5 Extra “Forever and Ever”
“What did you say?!” The tone of Bai Yin’s outburst rose several octaves. “You want to go to the disaster area? Are you f*cking crazy?” Very good. When overwhelmed with emotions, even she couldn’t help but slip a swear word out.

Bai Lian Hua did not speak. He didn’t know what to say.

“Let me tell you Bai Lian Hua! Don’t learn from those foreigners! Becoming passionate just because of an accident. In fact, your own safety is the most important. Not to mention, you are also unfamiliar with foreign countries……” Bai Yin chattered on through the phone while Bai Lian Hua continued to listen silently. He didn’t agree with Bai Yin’s opinions but she is, after all, still his mother……

“Lian Hua, “ Bai Yin seemed to notice that she may have spoken too much and tried to probe things out, “Did you hear what mom just said? You must not go….Even if Song Qingge is there, can you not go…….” Her voice at the end sounded like she was pleading him. His eyes went misty and tears almost fell.

Bai Lian Hua slowly calmed his breathing but his voice still sounded a little choked up: “Mom. It was cousin who wanted me to tell you. Don’t listen to his nonsense. Also, the aftershocks aren’t that dangerous. How can I die so easily? Remember the earthquake that happened a few years ago? There were no news about rescuers deaths.”

Bai Yin who had always maintained a gentle image suddenly exploded at Bai Lian Hua: “I know! But why do you have to go for him! Didn’t you two already end things? Weren’t things going well for you with that professor’s niece? Why do you have to look for a man! Do you want to anger me to death?”

Just as Bai Lian Hua was lost for words, the voice of Father Kong travelled over: “Let him go!”

It was as if everything had suddenly reversed. The father who had always been impatient is suddenly calm and the mother who had always been gentle is furious. With the single sentence from his own father, “Let him go”, Bai Lian Hua was instantly stunned.

“I’m sorry…..” Bai Lian Hua said. His voice however was very small and humble. He wanted to say something else but could only repeat the words again, “I’m sorry.”

With fear, and also with guilt, Bai Lian Hua hung up like his phone was on fire. He couldn’t describe the feeling he was experiencing at this moment. Perhaps it was guilt. Perhaps confusion.

He thought, this is love. Despite being rejected so many times, in the end the conclusion wasn’t was dramatic as he had thought it would be. It made even he himself become question if everything that just occurred really happened.

However, this was enough. Bai Lian Hua stored away his phone and explained briefly and concisely to his roommates.

Li Bei who had always hated homosexuality didn’t spit out any evil words. Chu Zhongtian turned his face around and looked away whilst deep in thought. Zhou Nanjiang made an exclamation “Ah?!” and then became silent.

“When are you going?” Chu Zhongtian suddenly asked Bai Lian Hua who was packing his luggage.

“Tomorrow.” Bai Lian Hua paused before continuing with his actions

Chu Zhongtian nodded, but did not speak.

The next day, Bai Lian Hua woke up with dark circles. Yesterday, he had spent the entire night writing an email and today he had to wake up early to catch the morning plane. He really looked like a zombie.

Chu Zhongtian laughed but he soon couldn’t laugh anymore. “Say, you……”

“En?”

“The mail you wrote yesterday. I read some of it.” Chu Zhongtian looked at Bai Lian Hua and didn’t have the usual sunny smile on his face. “You wrote about your abroad life in all those emails and pretended to be happy in them. You even made up a long list of excuses to explain why you’re not going home……you……” Chu Zhongtian wanted to say something but he could only open and close his mouth a few times.

“You saw it?” Bai Lian Hua who wasn’t in a hurry waited for him to finish speaking and smiled: “It’s just in case an accident happens.”

“……..”

The two faced each other in silence. Li Bei stood up from his bed and shoved a notebook into Bai Lian Hua’s arms: “I study earthquake proof architecture. These may be useful to you.”

Bai Lian Hua accepted the notebook. It was filled with six or seven pages of hand written notes. Bai Lian Hua solemnly stored the notebook into his bag, “Thank you.”

Li Bei patted his shoulder and, as if he was just going down to the canteen to buy food, said: “Go and return soon.”

Bai Lian Hua nodded his head and even received a packet of chocolates from Zhou Nanjiang.

“Wait, let us send you off.” Zhou Nanjiang suggested as Chu Zhongtian and Li Bei nodded in agreement. Bai Lian Hua did not refuse and the four left for the campus gates together.

“Okay, you guys can go back now” “No rush, we’ll send you off until the airport.” “I’m not a child.”

Looking at Chu Zhongtian’s obviously upset expression, Bai Lian Hua smiled: “Lin egg! What is with that expression of yours? Are you sending me to my funeral?”

Chu Zhongtian glared at him: “You’re the Lin egg!”

Bai Lian Hua laughed a few times before waving a taxi down and getting in.

He opened the car window and waved at the people standing outside: “Wait for my return! Once I’m back, let’s go and have barbeque together! My treat!”

62.5 Extra “Forever and Ever”
That year, Bai Lian Hua was twenty-five and Song Qingge was twenty-two years old.

“Hey handsome guy in the white shirt. Since you’re so handsome, your heart must also be very warm right? I didn’t bring my IC card or any change with me today, can you help me pay a dollar?” A girl in a pink one-piece dress asked with a suspicious blush on her face.

Bai Lian Hua silently glanced at Song Qingge before nudging at him from behind with his elbow: “Hey wife, since that lady there speaks so well of me, why don’t you give her a dollar?”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was twenty-seven and Song Qingge was twenty-four years old.

In the middle of the night, Bai Lian Hua suddenly jolted awake. Even Song Qingge was woken up in confusion.

“En?” The short questioning tone, perhaps because he was still not fully awake, sounded a little unclear.

Bai Lian Hua wiped away the cold sweat from across his forehead and calmly said to Song Qingge: “It’s nothing. I just dreamt of a big snake.” After saying this, he then glared at him, “If I knew this would happen then I wouldn’t have watched that stupid show with you! This one is even having nightmares now.”

Song Qingge expressionlessly change his position from lying down to sitting upright. “I heard that dreaming of snakes means that you are more prone to becoming pregnant. Better pay attention to contraception.”

Bai Lian Hua: “……….”

“It just happened that it is only three in the morning. Let’s use the condom and do it a few more times.”

Bai Lian Hua: “…..Get lost!”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was thirty-five and Song Qingge was thirty-two years old.

Tiny Little Lotus: Song brother! Your wife starved to death in bed. Please choose from the following props to revive him. A. Go home and cook for him B. Go out to eat C. I don’t have a wife, only a husband (Strongly recommend C!!) D. Choose a coffin.

SY: D

Tiny Little Lotus: F*ck you! I want to go back home to find my brother!

Song Qingge who was currently driving turned to face Bai Lian Hua who was playing on his phone at the back and said: “Sounds good, let’s go to Bai Qingyi’s place for dinner today.”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was thirty-nine and Song Qingge was thirty-six years old.

Bai Lian Hua who had just returned from visiting Chen Chen Tian and his son said to Song Qingge with a sad expression: “Say, we should also adopt a son too. In the future when we’re all old with no-one to nurse us, it’ll be too lonely.”

Song Qingge who was reading a newspaper nonchalantly replied, “Okay.”

After a while, he lazily said to Bai Lian Hua: “Lian Hua, go out and do artificial insemination.”

………”Artificial insemination your sister!”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was forty-five and Song Qingge was forty-two years old.

“Song Qingge! Hurry and get up! Let’s go! Let’s go fishing!” Early in the morning, Ba Lian Hua pulled and yelled at Song Qingge who was sleeping comfortably.

Song Qingge raised his hand and looked at his watch, “It’s only six. Early. Not going.”

Bai Lian Hua dramatically sighed and wailed like a chicken that had just been infected with the bird flu: “Wuwuwu! It must be because I’m old now so you don’t love me anymore!”

Song Qingge threw daggers across with his eyes: “Next time you fall into the river, I’m not going to save you.”

“I don’t care. You just don’t love me anymore sob sob sob.”

Little Mei Hua who was doing her homework couldn’t help but yell: “Dad! Can you stop being so annoying! Saying this so many times throughout the day, don’t you get sick of it?! I still need to do my homework!”

Bai Lian Hua angrily threw a pillow onto the floor: “What five year old has homework!”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was forty-nine and Song Qingge was forty-six years old.

“Song brother, I have another two wrinkles.” Bai Lian Hua handed Song Qingge the mirror with a face of sorrow.

Song Qingge rubbed the top of his head: “Don’t worry. Even if you have as many wrinkles on your face as a chrysanthemum, I’ll still love you.”

The two gazed at each other for about three minutes.

“……..You’re so cheesy.” Finally, Bai Lian Hua couldn’t help but say.

Song Qingge smiled softly: “Likewise.”

That year, Bai Lian Hua was seventy-one and Song Qingge was sixty-eight years old.

Song Qingge sat by Bai Lian Hua’s bed and slowly peeled him an orange. He couldn’t help but complain: “Why did you eat a whole pot of meat and braised pork in one day. Don’t you know that you’re already high in cholesterol?”

Bai Lian Hua coughed weakly a few times: “Why do you nag more as you get older.” Then suddenly, as if he thought of something, he asked Song Qingge: “Little Mei Hua got married recently? Who’s the groom?”

Song Qingge silently said: “You don’t know such an important thing?” As he said this, he took out his phone and showed him the photo.

Bai Lian Hua reached out to the phone with his trembling and bark-like hand: “F*ck….Isn’t this that kid from Chen Tian’s family?

“Yes.” Song Qingge was particularly calm. “Bai Mei Hua said that Chen Tian’s family is rich, only has one son and didn’t have other friends or relatives. Chen Dong Nan isn’t ugly and was enough for her. Chen Dong Nan said that his family has enough money to last him a lifetime and wanted to find a partner so that his life wouldn’t be too boring.  Coincidentally, the two were at marriageable age so they got together.”

“Chen Tian’s son is pretty open…..”

“Chen Tian was so angered by this child of his that he even went and retired abroad. That’s right, I heard he left three days after Li Shenzhou’s death.”

Bai Lian Hua slowly bit onto the orange. “I told you they had something going on between them.”

Song Qingge smiled and said nothing.

“I just surfed through Yun Yu’s weibo. He said that Li Yue Yuan is so f*cking pitiful. At that time I swear Chen Tian must have changed his target of affection!” Bai Lian Hua vowed.

Seeing that Song Qingge isn’t responding to him, Bai Lian Hua also changed the topic: “Say, why did you like me back then?”

Song Qingge looked at him for a few seconds: “Do you want to hear the truth or a lie?”

Bai Lian Hua’s lips moved a few times: “Did the doctor say that I have any heart diseases?” “No.” “Then tell me the truth.”

“Back then, I was young and frivolous and didn’t know much about the world. Anything that I encountered, I thought it was love…..” Seeing that Bai Lian Hua’s expression had not changed, he continued, “In order to make me like you, I even specially made a list of all the information about you such as age, height, weight, blood type, birthday, constellation………and at the bottom, I even wrote a list of reasons as to why I love you. Later, whenever I feel that I don’t love you, I would pull those out…….and then I ended up hypnotising myself.”

Bai Lian Hua suddenly stood up and then suddenly sat back down.

“You, you, you, you, you………..” Pointing at Song Qingge’s nose, for a long time Bai Lian Hua didn’t know what to say, “You f*cking get lost!”

-End of Extra-

The story after the end of the extra:

Song Qingge: But afterwards, it really became true love. As someone who is already so old, you’re still acting like a proud little girl.

Bai Lian Hua: You’re the one who is old!! Your whole family is old!!

KK has something to say:
Goodbye little Lotus. Goodbye Song didi. It was fun translating your story~

I have to be honest, I wish they explored more of Song Qingge and Bai Lian Hua’s life after they get together and it also kinded ended abruptly…..Kinda, actually, VERY disappointed with how it ended 😦

But that time skip extra at the end was pretty cute ❤

Up next, Smile’s story! (I actually liked the next two extras a lot!)

(I will upload BOTH extras together tomorrow since they’re pretty much part 1 and part 2 of Smile’s story.)

Thank you for the update and for the translation of this novel. Most of it was a fun ride, though the conflict near the end (after only one kiss) was rough and as you said, the ending is abrupt. I am happy to see glimpses of their happy life, though. No matter my qualms with the author, your translation was always consistent and frequently updated, which is very much appreciated by this reader!

As cute as the scenes of their lives together is, I really would have liked seeing how they met and made up.
