Thank you for your patience during the last few days: I needed some time to think about the current situation and decide what I want to do from here onwards. This might be a long read but I would appreciate it if you could spare a few minutes to read this. 🙏
As you are all probably aware, JJWXC recently announced the launch of an international site (still in beta as of now) which resulted in many translators taking down or password locking their fan translations. If you go on twitter/reddit/discord etc, you’ll probably find more information about it so I won’t talk about it in detail here.
After thinking about it for a long time, I’ve decided to keep my translations up (but with some temporarily password locked). I’m still not too sure if this is the right decision so it can be subject to change depending on the situation but I will make sure I update everyone via Twitter about the changes.
For fan translators, the two main reasons (correct me if I’m wrong) for this lockdown were:
1) The possibility of someone stealing their translations, posting it onto the international JJWXC site and profiting off it, and that translation basically becoming a property of JJWXC instead of the translators so they no longer have control over their hard work.
2) The increased possibility of getting DMCA’d/sued by JJWXC as they are now paying more attention to the overseas market.
Personally, I’m not too bothered by the first point. I mainly translated for fun and my translations are pretty rough translations littered with mistakes anyway.😅 Although the thought of a thief profiting from my work annoys me, my existing translations are already circulating around everywhere so locking it down now is probably too late. (I even thought about sending my translations to the authors directly for them to post it up themselves instead of potential thieves but alas, there doesn’t seem to be a way to contact them privately)
The second point was what I was mainly worried about. I initially wanted to just go ‘ah fk it’ and leave everything unlocked but I do have some relatively popular novels here and if they’re going to start cracking down on illegal translations, they would most likely start with those. As such, I’ve decided to put a password lock on ‘Global Examination’ and ‘Mist’ temporarily and I’ll wait and see what happens when the site is launched. The two ongoing novels, ‘After an Infinite Flow Player Retires’ and ‘The Foolish Gong was Reborn’, have also been password locked to prevent further theft.
Updates will be paused for now. This fiasco has left me emotionally drained and I want to step away from it all and take a break. Future updates will either be password locked or on googledocs or something. I’ll make a post on Twitter when I eventually get back to updating.
Lastly, please be respectful and understanding of the translators, regardless of what they decide to do. It is a difficult time already and it’s quite upsetting seeing some people not doing the right things and ruining it for everyone else 😔

Regarding contacting the authors (if the situation comes to it), I know 木苏里 has a Weibo account which she’s going by the same name and I think Weibo has a private messaging function though I’m not sure how it works.

Is there a way we can sign up for notifications when you post an update? Since NU will be useless now, I’d rather not have to keep a tab open to check the site every day. (Because that is the only way I’d remember. And my tabs are already at the limit. 😅)

Thank you sooooo much for deciding to reopen your translated novels again (sobs with relief).
I read your translation of Mist last year and it easily shot up to one of my faves. I was saddened when I went to reread it but found it was locked due to that announcement. I can’t thank you enough for this reopening.

Hello KK, I don’t actively use social media and usually a silent reader but I really wanted to thank you for your amazing translations from the bottom of my heart! I’ve read QQGK and Mist and they became one of my fav novels. You always choose a good ones actually 🙂 So again thank you so much for all the hard work and sorry for the trouble with all these passwords now! :3

Hi, i wanted to read global examination. I went to the novel section and clicked the key icon, but the link isn’t taking me anywhere. Did you take the Google form down? It says that the site cant be reached and is permanently taken down or changed to a new location

I read the manhua adaptation (it’s updated to chapter 51 as of now)l and someone recommended reading the novel to me.
I searched every chinese-to-eng novel translation websites i could find and everything keeps redirecting me to you
The updates on bilibili are weekly and the reviews for your translations have made me desperate to get my hands on the novel

Yes. Generally you just have to enter it once and the site would remember it for the rest of the chapters
