Arc 3: Humanoid Village
Chapter 63
The group of six gathered at the stairs but did not go downstairs.
If they went downstairs and Jin’er was waiting down there, they wouldn’t be able to say anything.
Hu Beijia took in Guan Chengze’s expression and saw that he also didn’t sleep well. As for Lu Xiuyang, it wasn’t unexpected. He looked the most haggard out of those three.
Yan Shi knew that Hu Beijia wanted to ask about it, so he took the initiative to speak, “There were knocking on the door last night.”
Xu Ziyue who was rubbing the doll’s ankle turned and looked over when he heard Yan Shi say this, “Then the knocking was targeting Lu Xiuyang?” As soon as Xu Ziyue finished saying that, Hu Beijia briefly glanced at him.
Xu Ziyue internally lamented: Oh no, he had said the wrong thing.
This situation was similar to the likes of the university exams. Some would not get a good result and are unable to enrol while others can enrol instantly. Those who did well couldn’t celebrate in front of those who did poorly as it could easily attract hatred.
The situation before him was more difficult to deal with than trying to get into a university.
That knocking on the door from an unknown source was likely a forewarning.
Thinking back to the doll-sized clothing resembling Lu Xiuyang’s clothes in the studio yesterday…..
Once those two factors are linked, one would naturally think that Lu Xiuyang would probably die soon.
But this was something that cannot be said out loud.
Xu Ziyue had accidentally made this mistake. He immediately closed his mouth and quietly stood on the side, pretending to be an onlooker.

Yan Shi didn’t take offence to Xu Ziyue’s words because all Xu Ziyue did was state out a fact and what they had to do now was to try and solve this issue.
Yan Shi said, “Xu Ziyue is right. At present, it seems that everything is pointing at Lu Xiuyang.”
“Then what should we do?” Tang Yunyun looked even more anxious than Lu Xiuyang. Hearing that there was a teammate who may die soon right after waking up, she couldn’t help but worry about the next target.
The question Tang Yunyun asked was also something Lu Xiuyang wanted to know.
But right now, they didn’t have much information.
“For now, there are two places we can go to gather more information. The first one is the place Xu Ziyue found the body in, and the other is Jin’er’s studio. Although some worlds may seem like it’s a dead end, from my experience there will always be a way to escape. Some might just be a little more difficult to find.”
It wasn’t just a little more difficult.
The difficulty Yan Shi spoke of may be regarded as being slightly more troublesome by others, but Yan Shi knew the truth: It’s closer to hell mode.
Once a player is targeted, even if they don’t die, they would at least lose a layer of skin.
But Lu Xiuyang’s condition wasn’t very stable last night so Yan Shi could only say it like this to avoid making him more anxious.
From Yan Shi’s analysis, he had actually felt that Xu Ziyue should be the one that would be targeted and that was why he was able to agree to Lu Xiuyang’s request to move to his room so easily.
But the current development clearly told him that, apart from a sudden cold, Xu Ziyue was in a better condition than the five of them and looks unaffected.
Could it be that having a “doll” in this village is similar to having an amulet?
Yan Shi suddenly had this thought.
Lu Xiuyang interrupted Yan Shi’s thoughts. He spoke up and said: “Then let’s go to the studio and see….And the place Xu Ziyue found the corpse. Let’s go and see.
Lu Xiuyang was the most anxious. He even thought that if Jin’er is a doll, she probably doesn’t need to sleep. If that was the case, then would Jin’er spend the whole night making a doll that resembled him.
Perhaps at this moment that doll that resembled him may almost be completed.
Guan Chengze pressed onto Lu Xiuyang’s shoulder and cautioned, “Don’t get too anxious. Let’s have breakfast first. It wouldn’t be good if Jin’er’s noticed that something’s off. If that happens, it would be hard for all of us.”
Guan Chengze’s expression was calm and relaxed but Lu Xiuyang didn’t have the time or energy to spare to notice this.
Those who noticed didn’t have much to say either. Afterall, this wasn’t something happening to Guan Chengze so they could understand his behaviour. What’s more, Guan Chengze’s words were true.
Yan Shi walked past Lu Xiuyang and similarly patted Lu Xiuyang’s back as he walked by. He took the lead and went downstairs.
Xu Ziyue followed behind him while carrying the doll in his arms.
As for the matter of “taking responsibility”, the doll had not given Xu Ziyue an answer. Not even his leg moved.
After getting up in the morning and finding out that his throat was sore and his nose was blocked, he had turned around to knock on the small coffin and “reported” this outcome to the doll.
But until now, the doll hadn’t said anything.
It was as if it had shut itself off.
Although that was just something Xu Ziyue wildly speculated, this wild speculation made the doll seem even cuter.
Regardless of whether the doll had “shut itself off”, when facing a little doll that would stubbornly keep still allowing him to touch the doll as he pleased, Xu Ziyue had soon forgotten about last night’s incident and was immersed with teasing the doll.
To the others, it just looked like Xu Ziyue pinching and rubbing the doll’s ankle.
When they came down the stairs, they just happened to run into Jin’er who was on her way up to get them.

They didn’t know if it was a coincidence or if she had been listening in and had decided to come upstairs when they decided to come down.
Just the thought of it was quite scary.
Yan Shi who tends to overthink things and Hu Beijia felt that the situation wasn’t so simple.
Guan Chengze seemed to be rather heartless and it didn’t look like he had thought that far while Tang Yunyun really didn’t think about it. When Lu Xiuyang saw Jin’er, his eyes avoided hers and his mind was a mess.
Xu Ziyue on the other hand was still thinking about the doll……Jin’er’s appearance didn’t bother him at all.
Breakfast was as usual; steamed buns, congee and pickles. The taste was always the same, but it fills their stomach.
Xu Ziyue placed the doll on his lap. Everyone picked up their chopsticks and started to eat.
Just as Xu Ziyue picked up a bun, he felt that the weight on his legs was gone……He quietly placed his left hand under the table and patted around and was slapped by a small palm. After that, he couldn’t find another part of the doll to touch.
This…….
Xu Ziyue took advantage of the moment where everyone had their heads down as they ate to look down.
There was still the figure of the doll under the table.
But if he said something now……wouldn’t that be telling Yan Shi and the others that the doll can move? Yan Shi and the others had only just relaxed a little but if he talked about this…….
Xu Ziyue found breakfast more and more difficult to eat. Whilst pretending as if nothing had happened, he secretly prayed for the doll to come back to him.
And it looked like his prayers worked. When he was about to finish his meal, he felt tugging on his pants…Xu Ziyue stuck his hand under the table and picked the doll back up.
Xu Ziyue was relieved.
Jin’er seemed to be to know that they would finish breakfast at this time and had reappeared. She smiled gently, “Then I’ll take you guys around the village for a stroll?”
Lu Xiuyang’s finger twitched slightly.
Yan Shi stood up first, “Actually, we want to know if there are any taboos or anything forbidden in the village. If not, we want to go around by ourselves. We wouldn’t want to trouble you all the time.”
Jin’er looked at Yan Shi quietly for a while. It even made Tang Yunyun who was watching from the sidelines sweat nervously.
But in the end, Jin’er nodded, “Okay then. Except for the Humanoid Village, you can go anywhere.”
Yan Shi let out a sigh of relief.
On Xu Ziyue’s end, the doll in his arms raised his hand and pointed in a direction. Xu Ziyue quickly pressed it back down.
The doll grabbed Xu Ziyue’s sleeve and stubbornly raised his hand again.
Xu Ziyue: “……….”

Jin er reminds me of SXB in the first arc who is a hidden BOSS. What if Jin er’s family was doll masters and she was the last one, so she knows how to make dolls and turn humans into dolls? Hmm… or, was she made to a doll when she was alive before? Then, who is ML? Could it be, ML is her brother who died to save her before? Ah… more mysteries.

This makes me think – just because YueYue is on easy mode doesn’t mean the other players are.
Also – 15 days. 6 players. 3 days for each player with only one survivor? 🤔 😳
