Misplacement Game – CH100

Arc 4: Castle Escape
Chapter 100

Xu Ziyue was once again made dizzy by Gu Ze’s words. It took him a while to return to his senses.

“Then tell me…..” Xu Ziyue sorted the information out and asked another bunch of questions, “Why did you gather these people here? You said you were the one who sent the invitation letters so that means everything here is planned by you? Is it in order to play this killing game? Also, no one asked you for the key before but why did they suddenly ask for it last night? Or did they ask for it before and I just didn’t know about it?”

Gu Ze rubbed his chin as he thought over Xu Ziyue’s questions, “I’m not interested in just plain killing but I am very interested in putting people I resent together.”

Xu Ziyue frowned. He didn’t understand Gu Ze’s words.

“As for the keys……she found out about the vents, so she didn’t fall asleep last night. However…..just a little past eight, the doors of two rooms will automatically open. One is the murderer’s and the other is the one to be eliminated…..Does this make sense to you?”

“So, you mean the female makeup artist noticed that her door had opened, and she wasn’t asleep, so she went to close the door? And then……The male makeup artist couldn’t enter and could only look for you for help?”

Gu Ze nodded, “That’s right.” He gently pinched Xu Ziyue’s cheek and praised, “Very clever. It’s no doubt you’re mine.”

Xu Ziyue rubbed his cheek that didn’t hurt all that much and said glumly, “How am I clever? If you didn’t tell me, I wouldn’t have known what happened.”

Xu Ziyue remembered that the keys had been temporarily stored away by the butler, “Then why didn’t he return the keys when he was done?”

Gu Ze was taken aback. He then lowered his head slightly and squinted his eyes, “Probably…..because of the ‘set’ rules.”

“Rules?”

“Game rules. The murderer every night must leave behind a clue that could point to them as the criminal, but it depends on the others whether they can find it. That clue moreover can also be hidden again if it wasn’t discovered the first day. Anyway, it’s not a very big problem.”

Xu Ziyue was slowly guided by Gu Ze’s explanation and had quickly forgotten about Gu Ze’s “putting people I resent together”.

Finally, Xu Ziyue raised an index finger and looked at Gu Ze pleadingly, “I’ll ask one very, very last question.”

Gu Ze laughed and nodded, “Okay, you ask.”

“You guys……I’m referring to the ones doing the elimination, how many are there? And who are they?”

Gu Ze smiled and deliberately acted distressed, “That’s two questions.”

Xu Ziyue was silent.

Under Gu Ze’s teasing watch, Xu Ziyue stood on his toes and bumped his lips heavily against Gu Ze’s lips, “Tell me, what should I do to buy you?”

Gu Ze stuck out his tongue to lick his lower lip.

After a long time, he sighed and looked at Xu Ziyue helplessly, “As long as you remain by my side, it is considered to have bought me. But you…..I have always felt that……..”

Gu Ze pinched between his brows and the words he spoke seemed to carry deep meaning.

He said, “I have always felt that…..I should be the one who needs to buy you to keep you here.”

Xu Ziyue could only feel all the hairs on his back stand up. Before, it was just an analogy but Xu Ziyue truly felt it this time.

Gu Ze had some parts of him that made him feel a little familiar. What’s more, he who was deliberately keeping away from him at first had directly climbed up several steps in one go after some conversing was just like that time when the little doll took the initiative to stick himself with him back at the Humanoid Village.

But that was because the doll had some of Sun Mo’s memories. As for Gu Ze……….he was probably just obsessed about his appearance.

The two parties were also a little different. The doll immediately ‘liked’ him after developing interest towards him whereas Gu Ze had tried to refuse and reject him at first before giving up resisting and following his feelings after it was useless when faced with Xu Ziyue’s relentless pursuing.

For both, Xu Ziyue didn’t seem to have needed to exert much effort to clear his love capture game. It seemed to be the case after the first two worlds.

Sure enough, it was because he had revealed the existence of the game in both worlds……And as the system had said, something like a virus had formed and the database was disrupted.

Xu Ziyue now deeply suspected that Gu Ze’s data was definitely affected!

Of course, Xu Ziyue also felt that this suspicion of his was already close to being confirmed.

But the more it was like this, the more uncomfortable Xu Ziyue would feel every time Gu Ze says anything moving.

Because to him, Gu Ze seemed…….

Like a child who was afraid of being abandoned again. A child who would always use his ‘obedience’ and ‘good grades’ to try and keep his parents around.

Xu Ziyue abused himself with all these kinds of thoughts in his mind. The more he looked at Gu Ze, the more unbearably guilty he felt.

Gu Ze however couldn’t see the thoughts running in Xu Ziyue’s mind and just frankly answered Xu Ziyue’s question.

According to him, there are unfortunately still six NPCs amongst the remaining thirteen of them. Including Gu Ze, there was the male makeup assistant, Staff A and the three artists.

In short, if they didn’t count Xu Ziyue, the number of players and NPCs were now equal. It could be said the current situation is very unfavourable for the players.

And after the fifth night…..The NPC would have basically won. If Gu Ze continued to vote for Xu Ziyue, however, the situation could be overturned.

Afterall, it seems that these NPCs are not exactly of one mind.

Xu Ziyue didn’t ask Gu Ze anymore questions after that. On one hand, Xu Ziyue felt uncomfortable when he saw Gu Ze’s willingness to do anything for him and on the other hand, he remembered that they still had to go check on the cabinet in the storage room mentioned by the photographer.

Since he was a player, there was no need for him to lie. He must’ve really moved a cabinet as he had said.

When Xu Ziyue and Gu Ze arrived, the others had already taken a look.

The entire storage room was covered in dust and there was only a square spot where the cabinet originally sat that was different. From the looks of the dustless spot, the cabinet should have been placed against the wall.

But the way it was placed was rather different from an ordinary cabinet. Normal cabinets would have the doors facing out but the doors to this one faced the wall.

Xu Ziyue opened the drawers and doors that had already been pulled out and was almost startled to death…..

The cabinet was stuffed with a headless corpse. Gu Ze caught the startled Xu Ziyue and then looked back at the two staff players who didn’t give them a warning.

Fortunately, Xu Ziyue had experienced several worlds and his ability to overcome this shock had improved significantly. After that scare, he quickly recovered his composure.

His heart however still raced faster than normal.

Gu Ze sighed, pulled Xu Ziyue behind him and then closed the cabinet door.

He pulled Xu Ziyue out of the storage room and Xu Ziyue obediently followed behind him. When he was certain that there was no one around, Gu Ze said in a low voice, “If there is anything important, why wouldn’t I tell you about it. Don’t rush into things so recklessly next time.”

Xu Ziyue nodded, “I just…..just wanted to look.”

Although he already knew what this world was like, it was only a rough idea and many of the finer details were still vague.

Although it had nothing to do with him, he was still curious as he watched on.

Because he had already been spoiled with the truth and he had also had a fright earlier, Xu Ziyue had lost his interest in searching along with the others for clues.

But it probably wasn’t a good idea for the two of them to hide in their room at a time like this……

And so, Gu Ze and Xu Ziyue settled in the hall, watching the others go upstairs to search the rooms and then go downstairs to search the rest of the building.

Anyway, because Xu Ziyue and Gu Ze idled around so much and was huddled together in the hall like no one was watching, it actually caused more annoyance than if they stayed in their rooms to ‘have fun’.

But in truth, Xu Ziyue was actually discussing serious matters with Gu Ze.

It was really serious business!

Xu Ziyue tried to figure out the situation on the fifth day and also tonight’s situation. One player would definitely be eliminated so only twelve would be left to vote. If Xu Ziyue abstained from voting, then that would make it eleven.

Among these eleven people, six are NPCs

If Gu Ze didn’t vote for Xu Ziyue, then the NPC will definitely win but after Gu Ze decided to cast his vote to Xu Ziyue, it became a five NPC, five player situation!

After Xu Ziyue analysed this to Gu Ze, he looked at Gu Ze seriously, “Do you think what I’m saying is correct?”

Gu Ze nodded and answered indulgently, “Yes.”

Xu Ziyue asked again, “Then what do you plan to do?”

Afterall, the boss is supposed to be the leader of the opposing faction and in this world, it refers to the NPCs. As a boss, Gu Ze should try to protect the NPcs…..if not, he wouldn’t have given the keys if they asked for it.

But Gu Ze just nodded his head and gave an answer that didn’t suit his identity, “Don’t worry, my votes are still yours.”

Xu Ziyue: “……..” This result is not quite right.

It shouldn’t be an issue with his own common sense.

Sure enough, this world isn’t normal.

Why are you so stubborn about a vote! Boss, you’re being obsessed about something really strange!

Furiously shakes Gu Ze: “Wake up boss! Wake up! You’re going down the wrong direction!

It looks like the next game, which I think may actually be the final game, will be the most difficult of all for the MC to pass.
