【Discovered a clue. You gain 50 experience points and 100 survival points.】

【Item Name: Mrs Mei Jie’s Diary (2/2)】

【Item Type: Instance Prop.】

【Can you bring it out of an instance: No】

【Description: The first owner’s diary. It appears to contain secrets that no one knows about.】

Cheng Zhi Chu looked down at the blood-stained diary entries in his hand and, just as he was about to open it, he suddenly felt the building shake around him. He was so scared he threw the diary away and then huddled into a ball on the ground.

But this only lasted for a few seconds before it once again returned to dead silence and movements were no longer heard. Cheng Zhi Chu quietly looked up with his round eyes vigilantly scanning his surroundings. After confirming that nothing was going to appear, he moved to pick the diary up and then huddled in the corner of the room. With a wall behind him, he was able to feel a little more reassured.

What on earth was that…….It doesn’t seem to be caused by the diary. Seems to be coming from above………Was it related to Bai Yi?

Cheng Zhi Chu was a little worried about Bai Yi. Although they haven’t known each other for long, Bai Yi had taken care of him and had saved him several times, so it was natural for him to worry about Bai Yi.

If even Bai Yi had something happen to him then he’s afraid that he also……..No, he should raise any flags. If he has time to think nonsense like this then he should use it to read the diary and then hurry back to reunite with Bai Yi.

Cheng Zhi Chu pushed the distracting thoughts aside and focussed on the diary. He started off with quickly skimming through it and saw that although there were more pages this time, the contents in each page was few. The writing in each entry also got messier and messier and it was evident that it was written in fear and desperation.

【What’s going on? I’ve been hearing the sound of a baby crying in the middle of the night and this happened more than once. I am certain that it is not my imagination, but all the servants here are not married so there can’t be any children here.】

【I clearly made them bury the necklace but every day I would wake up in the morning and see it sitting in my jewellery box.

At first, I thought it was someone’s prank, so I was furious and reprimanded all the servants. I even replaced the lock to my bedroom to prevent others from sneaking in, but it was useless. The necklace still appeared.

I’m started to feel scared. This is so terrifying. Even if I tried to burn it, cut it with an axe or throw it into the river, it was impossible to destroy the necklace. No matter what I did to it the day before, it would appear as new as it could be in my jewellery box the next day.】

【Every day, I have been having terrible nightmares. I would always dream of the necklace and the jewel on it would look like an eye staring back at me coldly and sinisterly. When I let down my guard, a pair of hands would suddenly reach out from inside the necklace and grab onto my neck, choking me to death.

I woke up covered in cold sweat and once again I heard the sound of a baby crying but this time it was even more terrifying. It cried and cried and then its voice suddenly changed.

It started to laugh.】

【I understand now. That must be that bastard of Mary’s! It wants revenge!

It cried out “Mummy”, “Daddy” and then giggled but when it didn’t receive a response, it would cry hysterically with a high-pitched, ear-piercing scream. Then it would suddenly calm down and say very coldly and indifferently:

“Turns out, they’re all dead.”】

【At the beginning, only I heard its voice but today it changed; the servants also started hearing its voice.

They were terrified and wanted to leave but I wouldn’t accept their request.

I hired a priest over to help get rid of it. How can I let this bastard cause chaos in my mansion.】

【It killed someone! It actually killed someone!! It killed the priest and even threw his head onto my bed making me see the priest’s blood-soaked face the moment I opened my eyes!

I can’t stay in this mansion any more. I must move out immediately!】

【I can’t get out…..

Not just me, everyone can no longer get out. We’re all trapped inside this mansion…….】

【It’s slowly grew bigger. It’s voice now sounds like a young boy’s and it started to speak more.

It asked me why I would kill his parents, why I would cut him into pieces and whether “Joshua” is a good name. At the very end it also said, it said…….

That the next one to die would be me…….】

At the very end of the diary, Mrs. Mei Jie had seemingly fallen into a state of madness. The words written on the paper were messy like it was scribbled on and Cheng Zhi Chu couldn’t make out what she had written.

This kind of diary entry continued for another two pages before stopping abruptly and the rest of the pages were blank. The pages looked like they were soaked in blood and had almost completely turned maroon in colour.

Reading until this point here, Cheng Zhi Chu can say with confidence that the final boss of this instance is Joshua, the fetus that had died with Mary back then. It had become an evil spirit and grew up before killing Mrs. Mei Jie and all the other living people in the mansion as well as the innocent second and third owners!

At this moment, Cheng Zhi Chu suddenly heard a light chuckle that he had heard before when he came into contact with the emerald necklace. He couldn’t help but feel his hair stand up and he suddenly felt a small weight on his neck along with a cold sensation of something hanging from it.

Without even needing to think about it, Cheng Zhi Chu knew that it was the emerald necklace. At this moment, the long-awaited system notification appeared, and the description of the necklace had changed tremendously.

【A cursed item appeared. Danger. Please be careful.】

【Item Name: Joshua’s necklace.】

 【Item Type: Cursed Item.】

【Can you bring it out of an instance: Yes】

【Description: This is the only relic left behind by Charlie and Mary for Joshua. It bore witness to their deaths and took on their pain, despair and hatred to become a vicious curse. Combined with Joshua’s resentful spirit, it would kill all living beings that wears it.】

【Danger Level: A】

【Practical Level: C】

【Effect: After wearing it, you can order a ghost to do one task. It can only be used once in each instance. Before it succeeds, you are granted with unlimited attempts.】

【The conditions of use are “The ordered task cannot exceed the abilities of the ghost”, “The other party cannot be the instances boss” and “The ghost’s power cannot exceed the wearer’s power by too much”.】

【Side effects: Unless it is given to you personally by Joshua or you have power that far exceeds those of the curse, the necklace will try to kill the person wearing it with any means possible.】

Cheng Zhi Chu’s face went pale. Although it may seem like he would be able to make the cursed item his own, he is self-aware and knew that only death awaits him if he wore the necklace.

He quickly reacted and tried to take the necklace off but when he reached to the back of his neck, his hands were stopped by another pair of cold hands.

“Don’t take it off.”

“It’s a gift from me.”

The voice rang out from behind him and there was a hint of smile in it. The voice was deep and charming but it scared Cheng Zhi Chu to the point that his soul almost scattered out — He was clearly against a wall so how could someone suddenly appear from behind?!

No longer caring about the necklace, he immediately fumbled forward on all fours. At this moment the buzzing sound of electricity could be heard and the electric lights that had not been used for many years suddenly lit up, illuminating the dark basement. Blinded by the bright light, Cheng Zhi Chu squeezed his eyes shut forcing small beads of tears to form at the corner of his eyes. He then suddenly felt someone use their hands to wipe away his tears.

Cheng Zhi Chu screamed out in fear and his face was ghostly pale. He wasn’t far from dying on the spot. That voice once again chuckled lowly and it extended both hands to pull him into a cold embrace from behind. It then gently stroked his face.

“Scared of me?”

There was a hint of warmth and laughter in the voice coming from the person hugging him. Cheng Zhi Chu shivered to the point that his teeth chattered from the cold. What he was most afraid of was this person’s identity. If it would appear here, then it could only be…….

“Don’t be scared. Come, look at me.”

Cheng Zhi Chu didn’t dare to open his eyes. He could feel Joshua turning him around so that they were face to face. Although he couldn’t see, Cheng Zhi Chu could still feel Joshua’s gaze fall onto him. Like it was something tangible, it touched him all over. Cheng Zhi Chu could no longer stand the pressure and could only eventually open his eyes.

Under the bright light, a young man wearing a black tuxedo hooked his mouth up. His skin was pale, and his eyes were gentle and beautiful. His hair was of an extremely pale gold and the deep blue eyes reflected different shades of light like an exquisite gemstone. Like this, he looked at Cheng Zhi Chu without even blinking. He then held up his hand and gently dropped a light kiss onto his fingertips.

The young man’s smile was gentle and elegant, but he looked lifeless, like a cold corpse exuding death’s aura. Cheng Zhi Chu didn’t have the courage to break free from him and couldn’t even look away. He stiffly called out his name forcing his eyes to be met with the other pair.

“I’m fine with it if you’re willing to call me that.”

Joshua smiled and held Cheng Zhi Chu’s hand. He guided his hand over to his face and asked in a quiet voice: “Do you think I look good like this?”

Cheng Zhi Chu didn’t dare to speak. Who knows why a male ghost would ask something like this? What if he actually didn’t want the other person to say that he looks good?!

“That person who came with you. Him and me, which one do you prefer?”

Joshua saw him not saying anything and proceeded to lift his face and lean closer to force him to look up at him: “Do you like him better or do you like me better?”

Seeing that handsome face inches away from him, Cheng Zhi Chu was stunned. He didn’t understand what Joshua wanted to do asking him these questions. He felt that Joshua was probably referring to Bai Yi so perhaps Joshua had some sort of restrictions if he wanted to kill someone? That’s why he needed him to answer a particular question first so that he could kill him or Bai Yi?

“Can’t answer? Is it because you don’t like both or……you like him more?”

Cheng Zhi Chu’s long silence caused Joshua’s smile to gradually fall and a faint frown formed between his eyebrows.

His fingers moved along Cheng Zhi Chu’s neck. It was warm, soft and filled with life. It…..was very different from him

He loved the fresh and lovely appearance of Cheng Zhi Chu’s but he also understood that this kind of Cheng Zhi Chu would never belong to him

——— Only if I break you, eat all your bones and flesh and force your soul to wander in this darkness forever will you truly become something that belongs only to ‘me’.

——— Only then, no one can have you. Even ‘him’.

Joshua revealed a smile and then, both gently and cruelly, both passionately and coldly, the fingers around Cheng Zhi Chu’s neck gradually tightened.

Bai Yi’s Diary (Part 11)

Before I entered this game, I had already fallen in love with Zhi Chu. Until now, it has been going on for many years.

My soul had been broken into many pieces and they all have different appearances, memories and identities. Theyare completely different from me and had become an entirely different person.

Only Zhi Chu.

The only thing that every one of ‘me’ couldn’t give up was our love for him.

Even if the soul is broken, the memory is missing, even if  ‘I’ am no longer ‘me’, ‘I’ and all the other ‘me’’s …….still love him.

She said there’s someone tapped her shoulder, when there’s should be no one beside us two… That’s why I always shivering when I stayed up until midnight. I don’t like the thought of ‘that’ still here. QAQ

CZC is going to have a track record of sneak attack kissing right before his death at this rate. Joshua has Bai Yi’s memories but is a bit on the yandere side on keeping him, so I’m wondering if the memory-retaining fragments will all be as openly hostile to Bai Yi? Furthermore, not every single instance should have a soul fragment, so I guess the system is vetting what he enters to ensure maximum efficiency (unless there are only 186 worlds???). RIP to the genuine deaths, though 😦

    Thanks for the update!
